Just Deserts
Setting the scene:
Signal Box Pudding
Wanda cleared the table and returned with home made scones, thick cream from the local dairy, home made strawberry jam and fresh strawberries dipped in dark rich chocolate.
They shared a glass of Cointreau, just chilled with an ice cube frozen with star anise and cherries.
The evocative dark chocolate clad strawberries blended with Cointreau like waves of a sensuous sea.
For 2 lovers
Get on with it…
Signal Box Pudding
Pre-heat the oven to 220C. Sift 225g self raising flour into a bowl and then rub in 40g soft butter until you have a crumb texture. Mix in 25g caster sugar & a pinch of salt & then add 120ml milk a little at a time – a knife is good to mix with.
Turn the mixture out onto a floured surface & knead until you have a soft dough. Using a rolling pin roll the dough out to 3cm thick, no less, and then with a round 8cm pastry cutter cut out the scones in a straight tap without twisting the cutter.
Knead the remaining dough and re-roll until it is all used up. Place the scones on a baking sheet, dust each with flour and bake near the top of the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden on top. Place on a rack to cool a little.
Melt 100g dark chocolate in a small bowl in the microwave. Take 4 strawberries by the stem and dip each in the chocolate up to half way. Lay gently on a tray lined with parchment to set.
At this point consider dipping extra strawberries in chocolate because they are fabulous to feed to your lover at any time. If you’re feeling really extravagant decorate the strawberries with edible gold leaf.
The remaining scones can be frozen for a treat another day – or night!
Split & butter the scones, spread with lashings of strawberry jam, then a dollop of divine clotted cream and finally top with the chocolate strawberries. When the clotted cream hits your nose it is essential that your lover licks it off.

Feed the desire…
There is no evidence that cream will boost your libido, but cream in all its forms is sexy & clotted cream is particularly unctuous especially when applied to your favourite erogenous zones – & that doesn’t mean on the strawberries!
Lick off the delicate crust to find the oozing cream beneath.
