It must have been that cool dude, KarmaDiva!
A holiday in Bali.
Wanda strolled into kitchen wearing a pair of tiny HoneyBirdette red knickers, Roques shirt from yesterday ( her favourite) and a pair of white and gold sneakers. Roque was dressed for work in an open neck white shirt, jeans and a sleeveless yellow jumper. It was 7.30 and the sun already dappled the old pine table.
The empty wine glasses still on the table as was their well warn copy of the Karma Sutra. They were planning a magical trip to Bali to stay at the Karma Royal Sanur. They had read about the Hidden Garden Restaurant where foodies can enjoy an authentic Balinese Experience, which includes a guided trip to the local food markets, followed by breakfast, a Balinese cookery class, lunch and finally treatments at a traditional spa.
This was a trip not to find the source of the Nile but to find the real truth behind the Karma Sutra, What’s not to like about that Roque mused. Described as a relatively small, luscious hotel in easy reach of romantic beaches. They were sold…Karma Sutra here we come…
Karmadiva, God of love, lust and passion
Now Sutra as a word has many connotations none of which grabbed their interest but it was Karma that got them excited. It was all about Karmadiva the cool Hindu god of lust, love, passion and desire. He was very much like Cupid, Aphrodite’s son, in so much as he shot arrows to arouse passion and engulf his target with love.
His bow, so they say, was made from sugar cane (which Wanda changed to ‘how sweet the pain…get it?). His bow string was soaked in honey and each arrow was decorated with a flower. He chose white and blue lotus blossom, sweet jasmine (a definite aphrodisiac), mango tree flowers and ashoka prized for its beautiful foliage and fragrant flowers.
His wife was Rati, the goddess of lust and infatuation- what fun they must have had! Wanda guessed how they must have influenced the Karma Sutra that bible of sexual delights.
Sugar cane kebabs
When Roque left for work, after a small romantic encounter over the breakfast table, Wanda’s mind was creating an Indonesian meal for tonight. They had explored the Karma Sutra as most lovers do so this meal had to be sexy with a capital S.
She had chosen as foreplay Lilit Satay a favourite and so sexy. This dish she made with finely diced pork which she marinated in coconut milk, lemongrass, chillies, garlic, shallots, fresh chopped coriander, turmeric, kaffir lime leaves and lemon juice. All moulded together and wrapped around a sugarcane skewer and drizzled with honey.
A perfect combination of sweet and spicy, served with peanut and sweet chilli sauce. They sucked the spicy meat from the sugar canes, laughing and telling each other little naughty stories. She had scattered some lotus blossom and jasmine on the dinner table for an authentic effect.
Dinner Indonesian style
For the main event she produced Thai Red Snapper in banana leaf –
Get on with it –
In a bowl put 50g smooth peanut butter, 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped, the zest of 1 lime, 1 stick of lemongrass, finely chopped, 50g red Thai curry paste & 100ml coconut milk. Mix all these wonderful flavours together well.
Take 2 good sized red snapper & make 3 cuts diagonally on each side of both fish. Lay the fish in a suitable sized plastic bag & then tip in the peanut sauce. Seal the bag & then squish it about so the flavours get right into the snappers. Leave in the fridge for 2 hours to marinate.
Lay out enough banana leaves on a flat surface to wrap around both fish. Lay the fish with the marinade in the centre & then form a parcel. Lift the wrapped fish into an ovenproof dish to capture the escaping juices. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 30 minutes or until the flesh of the snapper is opaque & not translucent.
Transfer the parcel to a serving dish & open up to tantalize the tastebuds. Serve with a salad of cos lettuce, cucumber, chilli, lime juice & agave syrup & of course strew with fresh coriander.
Karla Sutra – a spectacular artist
The Fish was perfectly displayed on a plate from the artist, Karla Sutra. She produces sexy crockery hand painted with naughtiness.
The epicurean artist finds an erotic link between body and food. Perfect for this evening’s adventure…
Sexy music to love and dance!
So back to the Karma Sutra and the finale to the evening.
Wanda played her favourite Bali music – 50 Sfumature sexy and erotic music as she danced around Roque telling him that she was his dessert. She slowly undressed to soft candlelight and sweet tastes still on the palate. He watched not wanting to touch yet – not yet. She glided around him closer and closer and then with the music in their ears they made love on their own romantic sandy Bali beach.
‘I’ll book the holiday tomorrow’ Roque said, ‘for tonight is our night my darling’.
What a ‘cool dude’ KarmaDiva was!
With Love Wanda & Roque x
