Marmite Savoury Heart Cheesecake

It was a glorious early spring morning and Wanda & Roqué walked hand in hand through the village market. They stopped at the little French deli and bought some home made celeriac salad, venison and peppercorn pate and a baguette hot from the baker’s oven. Wandering towards the river bank they passed ‘Second Hand Junk’ their favourite antique shop. Abraham was outside he called them over. He had a vintage Marmite teapot in perfect condition to add to their collection much of which had come from www.amazon.co.uk

After a little haggling Roqué bought it and presented it to Wanda. Waving goodbye the couple stopped at the new Persian street food stall and bought steamed beets called Laboo to go with Jigar, a popular grilled liver kebab served with fresh bread, lemon and onions and Bamieh the Persian donuts to finish the feast. www.persiafood.co.uk/

When they arrived home Wanda prepared 5 wine glasses each one with a gold paper napkin unfolded inside. Each napkin had a concealed message – Breakfast in bed, a good spanking (although I haven’t been naughty yet!), a Marmite cheesecake (his favourite), a trip to the garden centre and finally Häagen-Dazs pralines and cream ice cream.

This time Roqué choose her magnificent Marmite Cheese Cake.

So let’s get on with it –

Put 250g digestive and 50g ginger nut biscuits blitzed into crumbs

Add 180g melted butter

Mix together and press into a heart shaped springform tin

Pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes to set

Put 400g cream cheese into a mixing bowl

Add 300ml whipped double cream, fold in together

Squeeze in the amount of Marmite that you love and fold into the mixture

Tip into the tin and spread to all edges, Chill for 1 hour; gently remove from the tin,

Zig-zag Marmite on the top and dress with edible flowers and light the candles. Served with a crisp salad of apple, celery and grapes – perfect!

Tea was served in the Marmite tea pot with slices of the savoury Marmite cheesecake and edible pansies.
